In maintenance and manufacturing applications where consistent and accurate torque control is absolutely necessary, Mountz, Inc. offers the TSC & TSP cam-over torque wrenches. These torque wrenches are designed to deliver reliable and precise torque control for torque applications that do not tolerate over-torque conditions. Improper torque control increases manufacturing costs and delays. Designed for variety of industries like aerospace, automotive, electronics, energy, medical, and packaging, the TSC & TSP torque wrenches ensure proper torque control.
Built with a cam-over design, the accurate TSC & TSP torque wrenches prevent a fastener or bolt from being over-torqued. The design action of the cam-over torque wrench is such that when the tool reaches its preset torque value the mechanism disengages from the drive thus limiting the torque applied.
The torque wrenches feature an ergonomically designed rubber hand-grip, a slim profile, and are lightweight. Manufactured with quality stainless steel head, the TSC and TSP torque wrenches are non-length dependant and ESD compliant. Mountz offers various models covering a torque range from 10 inch-pounds up to 90 inch-pounds. The TSC model is an externally adjustable torque wrench and the TSP model is an internally adjustable torque wrench.
The TSP is a preset torque wrench that offers a tamper-proof internal torque adjustment setting. There is no external adjustment scale so the wrench must be preset using a torque tester. A preset torque wrench is similar to a person setting an alarm clock to signal the achievement of a selected time. The torque wrench is preset to the required torque value of the application and then the tool signals the operator when torque is achieved.
The TSC torque wrench is an externally adjustable tool that offers different setting options for applications that require more than one torque value. The adjustable wrench features an external adjustment scale, which allows for an operator to adjust the torque setting as needed for the application. Ideal for field service or production applications as the adjustable torque wrench provides the operator with flexibility.
Inside the TSC and TSP torque wrench, a precision radial ball clutch “slips-free” when the preset torque is reached preventing the fastener from being over-torqued. The use of a cam-over torque wrench removes the operator influence out of the torque equation and offers more accurate and repeatable results than a standard ‘click’ type wrench. A click wrench typically breaks about 3 degrees after set torque is reached and then becomes positive. If the operator continues to pull on the click wrench, he or she can over tighten the fastener.
Using a quality cam-over torque wrench makes a safer world through accuracy and precision. Controlling torque is essential for companies to ensure their product’s quality, safety and reliability isn’t compromised. The failure of a three-cent fastener that isn’t properly tightened can lead to catastrophic or latent failures. Fasteners that are insufficiently fastened can vibrate loose and excessive torque can strip threaded fasteners.
